FE4 Learning Evaluation Situations
Adjective and Nouns - Assessment AS Learning
In this reinforcement activity, students chose an adjective and noun from a bowl. With the selected adjective and noun, they had to create a silly sentence using the adjective to describe the noun. They also had to identify what type of adjective (qualitative or quantitative) and noun (person, place, thing or animal) they chose. They created five sentences using proper structure, punctuation, and capitalization - drawing a different adjective and noun each time. They shared their sentences with the whole class at the end of the period. The other students guessed what nouns and adjectives they chose from the bowls. This activity allowed students to explore and reinforce how adjectives can describe a noun and assess their own understanding of the concept.

Guess Who? - Assessment as Learning
Inspired by the game Guess Who, students chose a noun (person, place, thing or animal) from a bowl. Then, the students had to write down ten clues using at least one adjective (qualitative and quantitative) in each clue/sentence. The objective of this activity was for their peers to be able to guess the noun they were describing (without saying the noun). Each student read out their clues in front of the class, and the rest had to try to guess the noun. This activity allowed students to reinforce how adjectives can make a sentence more interesting for a reader and create a better visual picture in their mind.
Discrimination SCENARIO CARDS - ASSESSMENT OF LEARNING
From the ERC progressions of learning, students learned about discrimination as a source of tension or conflict in society. Through classroom discussion and dialogue, students learned what discrimination is, a few reasons or motives why people discriminate, and what to do if you have been discriminated against. After a class discussion and presentation, students worked in groups to discuss and collaborate with team members about an ethical scenario provided to their group. Then, the students completed an individual worksheet to share their insights and own ideas/thoughts about the scenario. I circulated and noted the students' active engagement, collaboration, and participation throughout the lesson in groups and class discussions. The students were also evaluated on their understanding of the topic and the reasoning behind their responses to the ethical scenario presented. I used a rubric to assess each of these components, taking into consideration the in-class participation and individual worksheet.

Hamburger Paragraphs - Assessment OF Learning
Students worked towards writing a whole paragraph with proper writing conventions, spelling, punctuation, topic sentence, supporting details and closing sentence. Before writing the summative paragraph, we did a review lesson for each part of the hamburger paragraph. Each lesson included class discussions and examples using the SMART Board, a group activity, and an individual worksheet to solidify the concept. After reviewing each component of the hamburger paragraph, the students wrote a paragraph using the hamburger format. By the end of my FE4, students wrote one full paragraph using the prompt, "What/who is the most important thing/person in your life?". I graded the paragraphs using a rubric. Each student handed in their outline, rough draft, and good copy. Additionally, I gave each student a checklist zine (a folded paper booklet) to track their progress throughout each step that had everything they needed to succeed.
Adjective Sentences - Assessment FOR Learning
This lesson applied students' previous knowledge of sentence structure (subject and predicate) to create sentences with qualitative and quantitative adjectives. Students learned how to make their sentences juicier and more interesting for the reader with the different types of adjectives. At the end of the lesson, a sentence worksheet was handed in. I reviewed their worksheets to see what needed to be reviewed or re-emphasized in the following class. I provided feedback to the students through verbal and written corrections and comments on their worksheets.
